Nantucket

There’s a certain kind of quiet that belongs only to islands. On Nantucket, it comes with salt in the air, worn wood under bare feet, and a rhythm that never hurries.

The Essence of Nantucket

It’s a place built on stories – of sailors and summerers, weathered shingles and handwritten signs. Mornings smell like coffee and ocean mist. Evenings feel like linen and sunburned skin.

It’s also one of my favorite places – a small island that somehow feels endless in detail and mood.

Where to stay

  • Union Street Inn
Elegant and intimate. White linens, blooming gardens, and the kind of breakfast that sets the tone for the day.
→ Best for: timeless charm / design simplicity / walking distance to everything

  • Greydon House
A colonial-style inn with subtle nautical touches and a sense of story. Feels like stepping into someone’s well-kept secret.
→ Best for: boutique lovers / understated luxury / room-to-ocean rhythm

Where to eat

  • Cru
Oysters by the water. Champagne at golden hour. If Nantucket had a mood board, this would be it.
→ Best for: seaside indulgence / long lunches / dressing up for no reason

  • Bar Yoshi
Japanese coastal fusion tucked in a harbor corner. Sashimi, sake, and a calm kind of cool.
→ Best for: design-conscious foodies / sunset views / unexpected pairings

  • Nantucket Lobster Trap
Unpretentious, local, and exactly what it says. Bibs, claws, butter – and not much else.
→ Best for: seafood cravings / family tables / messy joy

  • Handlebar Café
An indie café with coastal charm and good cold brew. Bicycles, books, and bench seats under ivy-covered walls.
→ Best for: morning rituals / creatives / solo travelers

What to do

  • Sconset Bluff Walk
A footpath between hedges and horizons. Flowers, picket fences, and ocean views that don’t try too hard.
→ For slow walkers / evening thinkers / lovers of the in-between

  • Brant Point Lighthouse
Small, iconic, and endlessly photogenic. It’s less about the lighthouse, more about how it feels to stand there.
→ For soft light / quiet mornings / postcards you won’t send

  • Shipwreck & Lifesaving Museum
Stories of storms, sails, and survival. A place that holds the island’s quiet heroism.
→ Best for: history lovers / stormy day escapes / salt-stained imagination

  • Rent a bike & cycle the island
The wind as soundtrack. Hydrangeas on either side. No schedule – just pedals, pauses, and your own rhythm.
→ Best for: freedom seekers / analog days / the in-between moments

Lime Studio Note

I didn’t expect Nantucket to feel like a memory before it was even over. There’s something cinematic in its stillness – linen curtains moving in an ocean breeze, a single bike leaning against a fence, the way everything slows down just enough to be noticed. It’s not just a place. It’s a rhythm.

A plate of fresh oysters on a bed of ice with lemon wedges, two small containers of cocktail sauce, and a glass of white wine on a wooden table.
A house with a steep roof, shingle siding, and a brick chimney set against a clear blue sky. An American flag is visible in the background.
A cozy bedroom corner with a bed featuring a floral-printed headboard, white pillows, and a decorative plaid pillow. To the right, there is a bedside table with a green ceramic lamp with a floral lampshade, along with a wall mirror and framed botanical art. A window with white trim and a floral valance allows natural light into the room.
